The Malays have a saying – sedikit-sedikit lama-lama jadi bukit – which means bit by bit, over time, it will accumulate into a mountain.

Recently, a wife put this to practice by putting a jar next to the washing machine.

Each time she found any money in her husband’s shirt or trouser pocket while doing laundry, she would put the money in the jar.

Recently, the wife pried it open and was surprised to find nearly RM1,500 saved inside.

The story was shared by Twitter user Wan Zullnaidi, who claimed that he was the lucky husband.

Great Habits Are Formed Daily

He said that his wife would reach into his pockets to check for change before washing his clothes.

She would also remind him where to put the change for shopping or toll money so that his husband would get into the habit.

In addition to the change found in clothes, the husband will also put aside the loose change whenever he finds it in the car, room, living room or any corner of the house.

He added that this went on for a year and his wife decided to open it up to calculate the amount inside.

Good Things Come To Those Who Wait

Lo and behold, they found that they had collected a total of RM1,424 in banknotes, not including coins.

They deposited some of the savings and used the rest to buy gold chains, as well as donate 10% to the mosque.

Regardless of the tale’s veracity, now you know that saving money is not difficult.

Besides tracking your spending, all you need is a piggy bank or some other container to collect the coins.

The most important is consistency – the key to unlocking life-changing financial habits
