Form Five Students To Get Vaccines Starting Next Month, Says KJ

The Education Ministry has requested to vaccinate Form Five and Form Six students.

Form Five students will be getting their Pfizer-BioNTech Covid-19 vaccines starting next month, according to Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Khairy Jamaluddin.

Malay Mail quoted the Minister who said that they are trying to get it done by July as requested by the Ministry of Education.

He also added that the vaccines would be administered in schools.

Yes, first dose in July. Form Five students, because the Education Minister wants the option. This has not been decided by the National Security Council (NSC), but he wants the option to send the exam students, Form Five and Form Six students back to school, perhaps by the end of July or August, depending on the spread of cases.

Pfizer conditionally approved for children aged 12 and above

Recently, the Health Ministry has approved the use of Comirnaty vaccine produced by Pfizer-BioNTech to children aged 12 and above.

It was given a conditional registration on 8 January this year, and is used to vaccinate individuals 18 years of age and older.

Although these additional indications have been approved, the MOH is of the view that the priority of vaccination is still to high-risk groups in line with the existing policy set under the National Covid-19 Immunization Program (NCIP).

The Ministry also agreed to grant conditional registration approval for use during a disaster for two (2) vaccine products produced by CanSino Biologics Inc (China) and Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen Vaccine which has been granted approval by the World Health Organization (WHO) for Emergency Use Listings (EUL).

Its reported that both vaccines only require only one dose.
