The government has given its approval to use single-dose Covid-19 vaccines in our race to achieve herd immunity during this pandemic.
Health Director General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah announced that this decision was made at the Drug Control Authority (DCA) meeting held today, in light of the emergency situation faced by the country today.
Two single-dose vaccines will be made conditionally available in Malaysia: the CanSino vaccine from China and the Johnson & Johnson vaccine from the Netherlands.
Additionally, the Pfizer vaccine will be made available for children above the age of 12. Before this, children under the age of 18 were not recommended to be given the vaccine.
These vaccines will be provided on a conditional basis, although priority will still be given to high-risk individuals under the National COVID-19 Immunization Program (PICK).
